Titleist parent Acushnet Company has a patent request on what it calls a high performance ball with “reduced distance” characteristics. In other words, a Titleist ball that doesn’t travel as far as today’s Pro V1 family of golf balls.
Could be that A
cushnet is gearing up for the time when the U.S. Golf Association finally rolls back the distance on today’s balls; or it could just be hedging it bets.
