Already Ken Mangum, Director of Golf Courses & Grounds at Atlanta Athletic Club, is hearing complaints from members about how the course was redesigned by Rees Jones for the recent PGA Championship.
Mangum tweeted today, “Already got my first member letter to change 2 bunkers and all the sand. Getting back to normal quick.”
Maybe Phil Mickelson was right in his criticism of the layout.
“That guy that redid this one,” Mickelson said, shaking his head during a tournament press conference. “It’s great for the championship, but it’s not great for the membership.”
He added, “This is a great example again of how modern architecture is killing the participation of the sport.”
