GolfRedefined.com allows golfers to test drivers

I always try make sure to go to demo day at the PGA Merchandise Show each January and then read Golf Digest’s Hot List to check out the new clubs, especially the drivers, but realize that the costs for a senior like myself living on mainly on Social Security are just out of my reach. I usually wait a year or two until I can find one of the used drivers that I can actually test out on the golf course.

However, it seems there is always enough golfers looking for that magic club that promises all that extra distance, even when they cost them four to six Benjamins, to keep the manufacturers happy enough to afford all those expensive six-figure ads in the golf publications.

Now there’s a new kid on the block, GolferRedefined.com, that may be the answer for those like myself. It’s a membership web site similar in concept to Netflix where for a monthly fee golfers can find the perfect driver to suit their game by selecting, testing and swapping clubs.

“We created GolfRedefined.com to revolutionize the way golfers identify and select the best driver that works for them and the only way to do this is to test and play in real conditions with a number of models before the perfect match is found,” said Lorne Fierbach, CEO of GolfRedefined.com.

Even with all the adjustments you can make with today’s drivers that can help you come closer to finding the correct fit, Fierbach makes a good point.

“Why pay $400 for a top driver only to learn that the club really doesn’t feel right or perform,” he added. “With one of our membership packages, everyone now can try out the best brands to find the right club for their game. GolfRedefined.com members might decide to keep one driver all season and swap the following year for the newest model.

“We want golfers to rethink how they see the driver in their bag. There is no need to purchase one because we allow golfers to have whatever driver they want, for as long or short a time as needed. We offer flexibility and simplicity. We’re providing a unique service as part of the industry effort to help grow the game, and making golfers happy is something we easily can accomplish.”

Almost every top-of-the-line model is available, but southpaws and women will have to wait a little longer to join as only men’s right-handed drivers are now included.

Memberships start at $24.95 per month and go up to $39.95 per month, or for an even better value, members can sign up for quarterly packages. I might consider the “rent only” option, which is also available.
