When not addressing me in derogatory or even unprintable fashion, regular golf buddies have come to know me as Joe Antigua. Part of the golf clothing line’s appeal – the discrete logo and lack of other “decoration” – remains a constant. But it also seems exceptionally durable despite repeated wearing and laundering.
Antigua’s most recent collection seems of a piece with the industry’s renewed embrace of cotton. Called Desert Dry Performance Cotton, D2PC for short, the fabrics combine the comfort of natural fibers interwoven with synthetic microfilament fibers to repel moisture.
We’ll withhold judgment on whether it’s “the reinvention of cotton,” as claimed in the promos, but if it’s the usual Antigua quality, it’s presumably here to stay. (www.antigua.com)
